Hunter

My first guide will be on the hunter, these are the hardest opponents for us to kill (If they know we are around). I will put things in steps.

Moves to know

Freezing Trap: A ability that freezes an enemy for 15 seconds at rank one. The amount of time it can freeze you will go up to 25 seconds at higher ranks. This ability can be spammed. This ability can only be used if out of combat.

Flare: A ability which detects stealthed rogues within 10 yards of impact of flare. The flare lasts for 30 seconds. This ability can be spammed.

Here is what would usually happen.

Hunter will lay down freezing trap, and fire flares usually onto themselves.
You would go to the hunter to ambush, cheap shot what ever.
You would be unsheathed by flare
Within 5 yards you will be caught by freezing trap
The hunter will run about 30 yards away
The hunter will lay another freezing trap
While you are going to them, they will be pelting you with arrows
You will be frozen by the trap again.
The hunter will run away again and repeat, until you are dead.
Here is how to beat them, and it’s not very easy

Apply crippling poison onto both of your weapons, preferably fast weapons
Hunter will lay down freezing trap, and fire flares usually onto themselves.
Ok the trick here is to beat latency, use your ability sprint
Run directly at hunter at full speed
Once you get to them sap them
You will lose your stealth
You will be caught in the trap
The hunter will be sapped
Sap lasts longer than freezing trap.
Now you are within close combat range and the hunter is sapped
A fast weapon is best for this to get the poison onto the hunter
On your first combo point, spend it on slice and dice, make sure you get that poison on it
Never let the hunter out of your melee range.
The game is in the bag.
If you can’t land the sap, or this tactic sounds too difficult

You literally have no choice but to get caught by the trap
As soon as you are out of the trap fire a long range weapon at the hunter (this puts them into combat or maybe a item ability.
Be sure not to run into trap they might have quickly laid out.
They are in combat, they can’t lay any more traps freezing traps
They will most likely run onto their trap (if they have one)
You must wait between 6-7 yards away from target…I know its not easy
They will most likely fire an instant shot called scatter shot, it deals minimal damage don’t worry, and can only be fired every 30 seconds.
Once the freezing traps time limit is finished you can re enter combat, use the ability sprint and finish them off.
You might be thinking, yea but what about their pet that’s gnawing at my leg, gouge it, kidney shot it, just keep it off u for a bit with the variety of abilities you have.
A very easy solution

Learn engineering
Make a goblin rocket helmet (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=11272)
Basically rushes a target and stuns them for 30 seconds, you get frozen for 25 seconds.
First of many guides to classes that have a slight advantage over us, any suggestions post plz. Rogues have no huge advantage over anyone, but it also doesn't have a huge disadvantage, hence giving you the ability to kill any opponent.

interesting and im sure it's effective. My only problem is that i don't understand how WoW works, so i can't really get to know how your strategy works yet =P

You forgot an important issue

Hunters have pets (which since the 1.7 patch are no longer a nuicance, but a real source of damage)

My hunter is Level 22
My pet, a high DPS cat is also L22

i can solo (no pet) 1 defias elite in the DM, my pet can kill the same mob in about 55% of the time it takes me with the Taskmaster Axe.

Bears are low damage, high HP pets, ignore them go for the hunter.
Wolves are medium damage, medium HP pets, your choice which you attack 1st.
Cats are High damage, medium HP pets, kill the pet 1st as it usually does more DPS than the hunter controlling it.

Ofhand flare is a L34 ability, track hidden is a L24 ability
flare works, detect hidden DOESNT, so before L34 a hunter has noway of spotting a stealthed rogue, if they stick you with "Mark of the hunter" at some point, you can restealth but they will know EXACTLY where you are.

edit:
Where Hunters place there talent points will make a big impact on thier playstyle too

Beastmastery -- thier pet will an uber dps tanking killing machine
Markmanship -- if he keeps you kited you will die faster than you thought possible
survival -- no idea, i have never even looked at the talents here (but i assume its where traps/melee things are based)

I always apply slow poision on my main weapon as this will

Slow Hunters, Druids and Rouges trying to run around back stabbing you.

I open with Garrote as i want to do damage and if they try and run they keep taking damage. THough maybe cheapshot would be better against a spell caster as it will give a few seonds to deal some damage and get slowing posion in on them so they cant run or get any distance so you cant kick when they go to cast. I then tend to hammer them SS and Eviserate till they are dead. I'm very good against melee classes since i have so much agility and parry & dodge but have trouble against casters where this doesnt count and they eat up my HP. Goin to get mind numbing poision and use than when i see a caster about that i want to take down.

How would you class a shaman? These fuckers can give real trouble sometimes. Is it best to slow and mind num them or instance poision.

I might open with Garrote in the future. SS till 5 combos and then rapture while also using slowing and the timed poison so over time i can stealth again and let them slowly die.

Lots of horde turds in Stagletron Vale. Lvl 60's camping the Allaince level 32 quest area and kill you as you try and get/complete quests.

But nice area with loads of quests/horde to do and kill.

Anybody fancy doing the gnomergan instance? I'm level 36 so should be nearly ready. We run through this on Saturday Soleft?

Your saying about hunters.... They can handle a rogue quite well tbh ... The problem is being a warlock or a mage, if we get him we're fucked to be blunt, we can't run and we're half dead before we can even fear or freeze. Warlocks pets are ok, the Viodwalker is strong but useless against rogues and the imps die instantly near enough ....... My advice with rogues is if u get ganked either try and run, or fear and try to put up a good fight either way ur probably going to die :bigcry:.

imp die's? <-- crazy cuckoo

:S put some effort in shadowmaster, you can do it! spell!! spell!!!!!!

as a paladin my main fear is rogues, rogues own me tbh, they just sap or garrot me and im stuck, the only way i can beat them is by healing and healing and healing trying to wait them out, rarely happens (im usually dead by then)

My number one tip as a rogue is vanish, vanish vanish. Carry loads of flash powder. Gives you a massive advantage over most foes in pvp

If a hunter puts Hunters MArk on you .. then you cant vanish. Or if the other guy gets you with a damage over time attack or poision you get taken our of stealth quick. So unless you are goin to vanish and hit cheapshot and then use the 4 second to put a little distance in...ur fuckered! Vanish aint no good then.

I just stealth as soon as i see the enemy ... retreat from the area and try stalk them until i loose them or they go PvE and then garrote with poisons and go SS and eviserate. Win most of the time. But if I was fair and didnt sly jump everybody maybe would not win so much. Need to work on my skill more.

Hexx when u are done with Southshore come Stragletorn mate. Loads of quests. (12+)

i am almost done at southshore ;-) just got to kill some more of those sindicate guys, some gnolls and also get that ruddy envelope off that forsaken courier.

Envelope is hard! I'll be back there after Strangletorn and will help slay him. Has about 5 body guards. You'll need to be at least lvl33 for Strangletorn to get max enjoyment. Lots of higher lvl rouges to expect to get killed 5 or 6 times a night.
