I've got everything from pop to hip hop to alternative to 80's etc etc...I don't tend to listen to alot of Screemo / Emo etc cause I've not found many bands that do the genre justice.
Too many bands think the genre revolves around them putting on a generic gravely scream - when it can be so much more. Like Trivium, I was likening to them the other day, and their instrumentation was amazing, and they had a kick ass solo...and the guy can sing damn well, and then for the chorus he just screams...it's a let down.
And thats without even talking about the number of bands who think the genre is about including the following concepts in as many songs as possible.
"Oh, you broke my heart - but I'm better off without you"
"I'm falling apart - nobody understands me"
"Why does nobody like me?"
"I'm being bullied - but I'll get them back"
"I'm hardcore and will kill people cause I'm angry"

Those are the basics but there are a few more - Hopefully you'll be able to tell an original concept from one of those bland ideas easily.
Basicly if you group of 14 year olds all with hoodies of a band they'll be the sort of band I'm talking about...I recommend listening to a few of each bands songs and discover this pattern for yourselves. It might just be me, but when I find something like that that bugs me, I can't listen to that song again.
