Hey was thinking about buying one of these: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=338082

Wondering if it will fit my motherboard: https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=311326
Also I'm using 2 gigs of DDR2 ram, that a problem?

make sure u have a socket LGA775 (775) mobo :) (this will affect pretty much everything) it would mean that if its a pci-e mobo u have to have a pci-card and certain old types of ram dont work with mobos either... and.. ontop of that, what psu do u have?

Probably not... most 945P motherboards are not compatible with core2 duo, its the same with the 975X boards released around the sametime, some will work with a certain revision of the board - its to do with voltage changes needed for Core2.

Intel lists the board at revision 2 (as possibly) working with C2D - so if you have a late revision of the board you might be lucky. But that chipset is well over a year old and doesn't perform that well so it wouldn't get the most out of that processor. I'd recommend replacing it with a P35 motherboard.

No need to change your ram, its DDR2 and that is what core 2 has always operated on. But then again with a better board, some better ram wouldn't go amiss - PC4200 is very low speed stuff so if you upgrade the board, upgrade the ram to at least PC6400 (800Mhz).
