Is that a BIOS error message or a Windows one ?

IF your computer won't start, how are you getting the message ???
The presense of a message would suggest that your
PSU
Grahics Card
Mainboard
Memory
CPUall work perfectly fine.
Listen to Cerro, reset Bios settings (use Esc or F1 or F2 to enter on boot up)

if it won't let you boot into bios do a cmos reset and if that don't work take out the motherboard battery for 15mins and that will reset it all.

Aren't there two pins on the mother board that if you connect it resets the bios setting to default. That's alot quicker than waiting for all your charge to die and also to lemming, your motherboard can actually show you the bios and the windows loading screen before it starts looking for your graphics card so it could be the graphics card.

Sam my boy thank you for understanding the issue ! yes it freezes at the bios screen. The good thing is it goes past that screen and starts up but it takes ages like 10 min or more! then all the programs get started up in the background which is another 10 min ... madness !!!!

WOW, that pretty quick compared to the laptops we use here at work.
lol, let us know how you get on with that dude, and between us all you'll have the resolutions.
I'm guessing the board is a Gigabyte board?
this error seems to be commond in these boards but cant find a resolution.
watch this space for update.

that IS the CMOS reset jumper lol. But it doesn't always work when your PC fails a POST or has another Bios error - that's why I suggested taking out the battery if the CMOS reset didn't work, because that always does (if it doesn't it means there is something physically wrong). CMOS isn't always a jumper, on my motherboard its just a button - though its probably just two pins and pressing the button completes the circuit...
Normally if your gfx card is on the blink then you don't get a display so while it comes after the bios screen it normally pretty obvious its fcuked - unless its colours go all whacky.
Cloud, if the boot up is taking a long time you might want to start taking things out of the PC - like usb devices, before booting. I'd also update the firmware on the motherboard, it might improve boot times.

if you are using 2 sticks of memory, try taking one out and see if that makes a difference, then try it with just the other 1. there could be a problem with ur RAM, i've had RAM affect booting like that.
