Ok , sometimes in certain games (boiling point for example) i get this problem. I can heard the music but for some obscure reason, i can't hear the characters talk/guns firing/ sound effects like the sound of the vehicle's engine. Its kinda annoying playing without sound so i would like to know if you guys have any idea what's wrong? Because it works fine on like 99% of games...

"Sometimes in certain games"? Sounds very intermittant. Could be a few things, how old is your soundcard? What model is it? Is it onboard sound or a PCI card?

I used onboard sound for awhile and I found it would sometimes have your problem. Switched to PCI card and it went away but it still happened once in awhile. Restarting the game always fixed it. Update soundcard drivers... check what the sound settings are in the game - if its being detected properly and if the game is set to use EAX or some of its variants. Older cards don't like EAX being on. Is the game really stressing your CPU? I found that under high stress i'd get the odd bit of interference which sometimes caused similar problems.

I bought my sound card last summer so it's not that old. It's only happened in two games :boiling point and call of juarez
